Certificate No Impediment (CNI)
A CNI, or Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage, is an official document issued by a foreign citizen’s embassy or consulate that confirms there is no legal barrier for that person to get married, either in their home country or abroad.
The CNI is commonly used when a foreign national plans to marry an Indonesian citizen in Indonesia. It is one of the mandatory documents required by the Indonesian Civil Registry Office (Kantor Catatan Sipil) for legally registering a mixed-nationality marriage.
Some embassies call it a “Single Status Certificate,” “Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry,” or something similar. Each embassy has different procedures and timelines, so it’s important to contact KLITZ to help arrange CNI to your embassy early before your wedding day.
